The star has given the entirety of his £25k award winnings to the Music Venues Trust, which operates to protect the UK's independent music venues.

He was awarded the cheque on October 16 as his latest record his work was chosen as the outstanding release of the previous year.

Fender has decided to donate the funds to the MVT, in acknowledgment of the essential function small stages fulfilled in his initial steps.

"I would not have achieved what I am doing today if it hadn't been for all the shows I performed around the area, and further afield, when I was beginning," remarked Sam Fender. "These locations are iconic, but they are facing challenges."

From early 2023 onward, more than 150 of these locations have shut down – approximately one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.

Recently, major artists including Pulp, the group Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the Music Venues Trust in its attempts to support the industry, by including a small levy to their admission fees, which goes to help independent venues.

He also participated, raising over £100k on his recent tour to assist thirty-eight local spots across the UK.

The donation assisted locations that were facing possible closure due to issues stemming from flooding, blazes and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Other venues received financial assistance in improving infrastructure and gear that positively impacted artists and fans.

"The notion that funds from shows in major spaces helps the independent spots, where it all starts for musicians like me, is just logical," Sam Fender has stated.

He is among several artists to contribute his honor prize money to worthy causes.

Back when Pulp earned the award in the mid-90s for their release their work, vocalist Cocker announced that the band would give their winnings to the organization War Child.

In 2002, artist she split her award between a few good causes, such as the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"And I donated a grand to my local community centre, to their gymnastics program, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they lacked updated gear," Ms Dynamite told the media.

Previously, they donated their winnings to the community center that developed their act, alongside other grassroots music organisations.

And the 1994 recipients M People gave their prize to a charity for MS after a acquaintance was identified with the illness.

"The victory was quite enough," remarked artist the singer. "The money was the extra but we didn't require the bonus, because we had the main prize. So our success touched another person's life."

Recently, the Music Venues Trust revealed it had saved several local spots in south-east England, by placing them under community ownership.

The Joiners in the city and The Croft in the city were acquired under the community ownership scheme, which is supported by the arts council and supporters who buy "ownership units" in the buildings.
